Thinking about a "Summer of Seuss"

"Oh The Thinks You Can Think"

Here we go...we saw a total of 88 people for auditions, have a wonderfully talented cast of 22 performers, the production features a 30 foot tree constructed out of steel that grows out of the stage which Mayzie La Bird (the stunning and talented, Lindsay Martin) and Horton the Elephant (the gifted Reggie De Leon) RIDE up to the top of the stage...

a 12 foot Cat Hat (see pic below)..... 

over 300 shower lufas'....

a fully surround sound musical expierence!

Seussical: The Musical promises to showcase all of the wonderful technical abilities of this gorgeous AND state of the art new theatre...rehearsals are going along great, we begin loading in the show June 19th and the cast moves in the theatre and tech begins on July 28th....

Previews start July 7th and we officially open July 11th for a six week run....we are also pleased to be offering, for THIS SHOW ONLY, a child ticket price of $15 for those audience members under the age of 12...bring the whole family!

In ADDITION to all of that we also begin THIS SATURDAY (June 14th) with our Young Performers Production of Seussical The Musical, directed by Jill Gerber. This is the same show, but with 40 performers UNDER the age of 18 performing 5 special performances of the same show our professionals are doing for over 30 performances...we are sure that you will want to come support the next generation of performers by attending BOTH productions and supporting the students of the CCPA Young Performers Institute.

Guardsman is a Press, Audience & Critic Favorite!!!

"Enter The Guardsman" opened this past Thursday to a slew of positive word of mouth, the heads of the Festival of New American Musicals as our guests, a great preview article in Tribune and sold out Sunday afternoon performance....then followed up yesterday by a glowing review in the Tribune! Things are moving right along for CCPA.....2 weeks left to catch this the "charming, lighthearted" new musical....next week we will preview the summer at CCPA....so much music, fun, art and a Seuss!

Another Openin', Another Show.....

As part of the New American Musical Festival the Covina Center for the Performing Arts and StageARTS Repertory is pleased to present "Enter The Guardsman", a musical fantasy with a lush score, 7 exquisite performers and a band that will leave you breathless...seriously!

Welcome to the "NEW" Covina Center Chats Blog

Greetings everyone and welcome to the first posting on the new Covina Center Chats blog!! Check back here weekly for news from CCPA, behind the scenes "peeks" at the acclaimed productions by resident performing group StageARTS Rep, guest bloggers from cast members and such! We hope you stop by regularly to check out all the happening at new Covina Center for the Performing Arts....

Don't forget ONLY TWO WEEKS LEFT for Neil Simon's The Odd Couple. We've added a few performances and there are only a handful of tickets left for the remaining performances....The Odd Couple has been a huge success thus far, so hurry and get your seats before its gone for good!!

We also are extremely excited about the first session (spring) of our Young Performer's Institute...classes are almost full so if you have a little one (or a motivated teen) download a registration form from our home page (click on education) and send it in!!! 

The spring session of the Young Performer's Institute begins April 14th, and will be taught by Kristina Keener (most recently seen as Kate in our sold out production of "Kiss Me Kate") and Jill Gerber (director of "The Odd Couple")....needless to say we are VERY EXCITED to start getting the youth in the doors of the CCPA and to have such talented instructors on board!

Check back next week for a behind the scenes look and information about our next show, "Enter The Guardsman"  directed by Associate Artistic Director of StageARTS Repertory, Wendy Friedman. This show is being produced as part of the Festival of New American Musicals, and we are thrilled to be a part of such a cool project!
